I am a first-generation Mexican-American from California. I was raised and currently live in Bellflower, California. I am the only child in my immediate family to go to college and I hope to serve as an example for the young ones in my extended family that there is space for us in higher education. I aspire to be a school counselor to work with students on the social and emotional skills they need. I also want to help them find some direction in their career aspirations. Whether they want to go to college, trade school, military, or start a business, I want to be there to support them. I use my experience as a first-generation to meet students where they are. Although every experience is differnet, I strive to understand students as their whole and unique selves to best support them.
